On Thursday 16 January the Bennelong Foundation volunteered at the Collingwood Childrens’ Farm for the continued development of the Indigenous Food Garden, which will showcase the foods indigenous to the region. This follows on from our earlier session last August, where we assisted the horticulturalists with the propagation of the first plants for the garden.

With guidance from the Wurundjeri Land and Compensation Cultural Heritage Council Aboriginal Corporation (WLCCHCAC), the garden will be built by community groups, and educational tours will be developed to share the knowledge of the plants with the 10,000 visitors to the Collingwood Childrens’ Farm each year. The garden will also be available to the WLCCHCAC and broader community as a resource and source of native Australia foods and plants of the local area.
